FAQ
Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!
How long does James Hardie siding last?
With the proper care, your James Hardie fiber cement siding will outlast its 30-year warranty. It can even last up to 50 years if cared for properly.
How often does HardiPlank need to be painted?
Every ten to twenty years depending on the quality of the paint that is used.
Does James Hardie siding rot?
James Hardie® siding, unlike wood or vinyl siding, will not rot, warp, or burn. HardiePlank® is a fiber cement based siding, so it's impervious to water, termites, woodpeckers, and any other animal you can think of when installed to manufacturer specifications.
Can termites eat HardiPlank?
Although termites do eat wood, they cannot get to the wood in Hardie Board siding because of the fiber cement materials throughout the product. The presence of cement mixed throughout Hardie Board wood makes it difficult for pests to chew through and access the wood that holds the nutrients they need for survival.
